Mains' Technique - the Gonstead System of Chiropractic

The Gonstead Method

The Gonstead system of chiropractic, the method  practiced by Doctors Tom and David Mains, is a careful, precise, and focused approach to chiropractic developed by Dr. Clarence Gonstead (1898-1978). The Gonstead system is a specific hands only adjusting technique utilizing visualization, instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation and x-ray analysis. Adhering to the definition of true chiropractic as defined by D. D. Palmer, the founder of Chiropractic in 1895, Dr. Gonstead found there was no substitute or better method for analyzing or correcting spinal misalignments than with a pair of skilled chiropractic hands. This remains true today. Gonstead represents the ultimate standard in "hands on" spinal adjusting and continues to be the leader in chiropractic techniques.

Gonstead Training

Doctors Tom and David Mains are trained and experienced in the Gonstead system of chiropractic. The Gonstead practitioner is well educated in the teachings and application of this tremendously successful technique and case management system. Beyond the eight years of chiropractic and college education required to become a Chiropractor, followed by national and state board licensing requirements to be a practicing Chiropractor, the Gonstead practitioner has spent additional time attending Gonstead Seminars to help perfect their application of chiropractic within the Gonstead System.

The Gonstead Adjustment

The Gonstead adjustment is administered with care and directed at specifically selected levels- only the problem areas of the spinal column are addressed. The precisely targeted adjustments help return the spinal joints to their proper position and motion resulting in proper nerve function and improved health. Gonstead adjustments are gentle and effective for patients from infants and children to pregnant women and seniors.

The Gonstead techniques performed by Dr. Tom and David Mains have shown excellent and lasting results for all types of patients

Scoliosis Straightened

A screening exam at school revealed that my daughter required care for scoliosis. We decided to try chiropractic for this condition. Dr. Mains developed a series of adjustments for our daughter, which successfully straightened the curve in her spine. Dr. Mains and his staff are great with my kids, and we are thrilled with our daughter's results.
